Key Achievements
To inform her work, Marion’s key achievements in her career have included:
Two Library Management system implementations at Tauranga City and Bay of Plenty Polytechnic Libraries
Rodney District Council representative on the Auckland Transitional Authority Community Services Workstream which included, Libraries, Community Development and Public Art
Business Manager and co-project sponsor for the design and build of the new Devonport Library for Auckland Libraries
Seconded to a Lead Team role for sixteen months at Auckland Libraries, managing 23 libraries in the North Western region of Auckland Council
Led the Community Libraries Staff Resourcing Model project at Auckland Libraries
Planned, designed and implemented two mobile library services for Upper Hutt City Libraries
Led the relocation project for Upper Hutt Central Library when it was closed for earthquake strengthening. This included: developing the communication strategy, setting up the pop-up library and services, planning the layout redesign of the refurbished central library and planning the relocation logisticsPlanned and implemented change management processes and the strategic plan for Upper Hutt City Libraries
From November 2021 to June 2024 Marion held the role of Libraries Advisor with LGNZ. In this role she developed proactive relationships with Local Body elected members throughout New Zealand gaining their trust and respect. To achieve this her key skills of being empathetic, listening to and understanding their issues, whilst at the same time being a strong advocate for public libraries and their role to deliver on well-beings for the communities they serve.Marion has been active in the library profession including among others, taking on the roles of:
Waikato Bay of Plenty Regional Councillor on the LIANZA Council
Convenor of the Polytechnic Library Managers Forum
Chair of Public Libraries New Zealand
Member of the Kōtui Consortium Governance Board
Member of LIANZA Standing Committee for Climate Change Action
In recognition of her work Marion was awarded the LIANZA Fellowship in November 2021
